They are not saved in an Apple BackupRestore. Cydia BackUp softwares like PKGBackup save Tweak settings, bad or good. I have also found that when you restore as a "new user", that your battery life is greatly increased. Restoring from Backups seem to keep and carry over old jailbreak settings and any problems from previous tweaks. This is one of the reasons that when you want to restore you device from scratch, a "setup as new" is required to erase all previous settings and old file structure. Gridlock saves its own positioning somewhere else. IBACKUPBOT PROBLEMS INSTALLI guess it was held thru a restore somehow? Or is icon position also saved in the prefs files of some tweaks? Its my understanding that when you restore your device from backup and not setup as new that you dont wipe out your old file system, so when you install your old tweaks back, the old settings the tweaks saved will suddenly "reappear" because they were never erased.Īs far as I know for icon positioning, that is saved in the Library/SpringBoard/ist. My icon position from Jailbroken iP4 days came back on 5.1.1 jailbreak. Would this phenomenon also explain why after I've been stock for quite some time and then get a new jailbreak, add my first tweak like Gridlock, and after a Respring suddenly my icon positions revert to where they were on my last Jailbroken phone? This was a very welcome thing when we got Absinthe as I wanted an icon position like my iP4 on 4.2.8 had. Should that be preserved thru a backup restore? It seems I've lost that thru backup restore process in the past. I take hours and days getting my apps into folders. Only thing I'm worried about is icon layout being preserved thru a restore. IBACKUPBOT PROBLEMS HOW TOList of Files and Their Roles in iTunes Backups, and How to Use Them | iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch forums | iFansGreat, Drifter! Thanks! I knew we wouldn't get much from stock. Here is a useful link to show you what the contents of your iTunes backup contains: I tried several lightning cables and all USB-ports in my MBP to exclude this as the source. For IOS6 you can make these additional changes:įor IOS5 only you can change the carrier name on the iPhone and iPod with this: I've never run in to this problem before. So, when restoring the modified clean backup of iOS 10.3.2 (with old SMS, drafts and attachments) for the 7 Plus, I get an error message saying the backup is corrupt or that it's not supported by the device getting restored into. I really wan't to get my old SMS and attachments over to my new iPhone. If you have any ideas it would make my day if you could share them with me. I though that it wouldn't matter whether if I'm on beta or not when extracting and importing the SMS-data from one backup to another. IBACKUPBOT PROBLEMS SOFTWARESince it's my work phone I don't want to put in a beta software so upgrading to 10.3.3 while still in beta is not an option. IBACKUPBOT PROBLEMS PLUSThe new iPhone 7 Plus is on official 10.3.2. The iPhone 6 is running iOS 10.3.3 beta (v5) at the moment. This thanks to iBackupBot and I do not want to stop bringing the old conversations over to my new iPhone 7 Plus. I'm a sentimental man and have managed to keep all SMS with data all the way back from my iPhone 3GS. Today I got an iPhone 7 Plus from work that will replace my private "old" iPhone 6. For some reason I always love to try out iOS beta software, even though they are laggy and weird many times.
